Ice Lake Basin Backpacking

Ice lake basin: up just 25 miles past Silverton, Colorado, this area in Colorado is somehow very busy but still a chill mountain town vibe. The trail to the ice lakes in the basin is very put together, it is also pretty steep and they keep the roots and rocks still on the trail which I really like. After the first steep 3 miles you enter pretty flat land where a lot of backpackers will set up camp for a trip, if you continue following the trail, another 3 miles you will again enter a steep trail that will take you up to the ice lake in the basin, from this point, you can go to the right and head to island lake and also summit V2 or Ulysses S Grant Peak. To the left of island lake you can go up to fuller where fishing is available. The final option of course is hang out at the beautiful ice lake and admire how blue the water is and maybe even swim. Trail was always put together, always at elevation which is great for training and just another day for a Colorado native, area is dog friendly and the possibilities for the area are endless
